GANGTOK, 04 July: Sikkim United Tourism Organization (SUTO) has announced plans to “adopt” villages in the state under the Green Village Model concept. The organisation has also started conducting field surveys for the project.
A SUTO release informs that the organisation has decided to start with villages falling along the Nathula and Jelepla trade route viz Aritar, Dalapchand, Rongli, Chujachen, Rolep, Lamaten, Sisney, Lingtam, Nimachen, Phadamchen and Zuluk.
The organisation has apprised the Chujachen MLA, the concerned Minister and officials of the concerned department about this project, the release informs.
SUTO is confident that the project will benefit villagers and help provide opportunities for the educated unemployed youth of the area. The project aims to benefit around 1000 youth of the area, the release adds.
