GANGTOK, 15 July: Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee [SPCC] has strongly condemned the lathi-charge on college students on Monday evening.
In a press release, the party president, AD Subba has stated that with acts like the Right to Education in place which prohibits corporal punishment of students, such use of violence against college students was unjust.
The party further states that collecting such high fees from college students of Sikkim when the central government spends so much on education is not right.
SPCC has demanded proper legal action against the police personnel involved in the lathi-charge and immediate government intervention to resolve the matter.
