GANGTOK, 14 July: Justice Sunil Kumar Sinha was sworn in as Judge, High Court of Sikkim, today at Ashirwad Hall, Raj Bhawan. Governor Shriniwas Patil administered the oath of secrecy and post of the High Court Judge to Justice Sinha.
Justice Sinha was transferred from Chattisgarh High Court to Sikkim after the Apex Court collegium's recommendation and approval by the Ministry of Law and Justice on 30 June, last month. He later on assumed the office and also conducted a case as full ceremonial bench headed by Chief Justice N K Jain. Justice Sinha will demit office after attending the age of superannuation of 62 on 07 July 2016.
His warrant of transfer was read out by Registrar General of High Court of Sikkim, KC Burfungpa before he took the oath. The Sikkim High Court is now operating in its full strength of three judge bench. His oath taking ceremony was also attended by Chief Justice Narendra Kumar Jain, Justice SP Wangdi along with members of the bar and judicial officers.
Minister Energy & Power Department, DD Bhutia, represented the Chief Minister who is in Delhi on an official tour and also undergoing medical treatment.
