Arunachal students train on tourism in Sikkim

GANGTOK, July 13: A month-long industrial training for students from Arunachal Pradesh concluded here today. The training was conducted by Sikkim Peak Tours & Travels and was taken by 12 female students of Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic College. They are all enrolled in Travel & Tourism Management course there.
In Gangtok, the students were provided basic training on tourism, risk and safety factors, role of tour operators, packaging and costing etc. The students were referred here as Sikkim is considered to be the most popular State in tourism among the north-eastern states, a press release explains.
“This the second batch from Arunachal Pradesh. They were also taught how to set up tents at camps, given lessons on rock climbing and the relation between Buddhism and tourism, bird watching, etc.,” informs Madan Gurung, MD Sikkim Peak Tours & Travels, who was also the training in-charge.
He also expressed gratitude towards SAMA, SGMI, Everester Kunzang Gyatso Bhutia, Tourism Officer Manoj Chettri, Deepak Chettri, Bikash Gadaily and all the resource persons for their support.

The release quotes one of the students, Christina Panggam, as saying: “We learnt a lot regarding tourism and were practically benefitted. Arunachal is similar to Sikkim but we don’t have experienced and hardworking tour operators.”
