GANGTOK, 16 July: The recently regularised Muster Roll and Work Charged employees working under the Power & Energy Department who have not received their salaries for the past three months [ever since they were regualrised], called on Chief Secretary R Ongmu today where they were asked by the Chief Secretary to give her three days to take necessary action regarding the issue.
It may be recalled that the employees had earlier gathered at the Secretariat on 07 July to plead their case with the CS. There are reportedly 1,454 employees who were regularised and have not been paid their salaries since 01 April 2014.
The confusion created by the regularization process completed for them and then kept in “abeyance” led to a situation where they no longer qualify for MR or WC wages and are yet to receive their salaries as regular employees.
