Kolkata, 20 June [PIB]: Department of Health & Family
Welfare, Government of India, has permitted two medical colleges in West Bengal
to start post-graduate degree courses during the academic year 2014-15. The two
are KPC Medical College & Hospital, Jadavpur, Kolkata [which will start the
M.D. (Physiology) course with 3 seats and MD (Anesthesia) course with 4 seats;
and North Bengal Medical College, Siliguri, which will start an MD (Psychiatry)
course with 2 seats and increase MS (General Surgery) seats from the existing 4
to six seats.
It is clarified vide their letter dated 19 June 2014 to the
Principal and State Government that the permission for starting /increase the
course and admission of students will be for such time that the first batch of
students admitted against the above courses appear for the final examinations.
The college authorities may take up the matter for recognition of the
qualifications under Section 11(2) of IMC Act at the time of the first batch
admitted against the course appears for final year examinations.
