Minister chairs coordination meeting at Animal Husbandry Deptt

GANGTOK, 20 June: Minister for Animal Husbandry department, AK Ghatani chaired a coordination meeting of the department on 18 June at Krishi Bhawan.
The Minister while addressing the officials deliberated on some of the key issues raised during the meeting, informs a press release. Mr Ghatani directed the department to take immediate steps to ensure that all field institutions in the state are manned by trained personnel capable of providing basic veterinary first aid.
On the issue of shortage of funds for some of the primary activities of the department like feed and medicines, he directed the officers of the department to initiate steps to resolve the issue by organizing a series of meetings with concerned departments particularly FRED and Planning & Dev Department. He assured that he would be ready to take part in any such meeting.
Regarding the various schemes being implemented by the department he asked all scheme in-charges to apprise him of the progress and status of the schemes, the release mentions.
Earlier, the meeting commenced with the welcome address by Commissioner cum Secretary, SK Jha and Director, Dr HK Chettri.  This was followed by a power point presentation of various schemes and activities of the Department by Addl. Director (DI) Dr KC Bhutia.
Officers from various sections of the Department highlighted the achievements, issues and challenges during the discussion session, it is added.
