MANGAN, 17 June: Mangan Nagar Panchayat has set up a Compost Shredder Machine in Mangan Bazaar. The unit was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, accompanied by MNP president Karma Jigdel Bhutia and Councillor Zangmu Bhutia on 15 June.
The machine will be used for recycling biodegradable waste into organic manure. The MNP has invested Rs. 13 lakh for the said machine along with the construction of the shed where it is installed.
The MNP President informs that they plan to collect waste from the entire town of Mangan for this purpose and gradually include the surrounding villages and other parts of the district.
Bazaar Inspector Sonam Palden Bhutia explained details of the functioning of the machine to the chief guest.
After the inauguration, the chief guest and other guests also planted saplings in the premises to mark the Paryavaran Mahotsav 2014. Also present were ACF Teritorial, Pempa Dadul Bhutia and BO, Tenzing Bhutia.
