GANGTOK, 22 July: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha [SKM] has welcomed the State government’s decision to keep the transfer of more than 350 teachers on hold for the time being till a proper transfer policy is put in place.
SKM MLA from Syari, Kunga Nima Lepcha, who is also the party spokesperson, in a press statement issued today, says that the transfers being attempted were politically motivated. There withdrawal is hence welcome, he states.
Meanwhile, the party has suggested three points to be borne in mind while preparing a teacher transfer policy, which, when formalized, should be binding on all the sections of the teaching staffs across the state without fear or favour. The party wants no transfers mid-session and desire that transfers should not result in shortage of teachers anywhere.
