Mangan, 22 July: The Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare conducted a review meeting of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) with Anganwadi workers and Supervisors here at Zilla Bhawan at Pentok on Monday.
Social Welfare Minister Tulshi Devi Rai was present as the chief guest accompanied by Deputy Speaker Sonam Gyatso Lepcha as guest of honor.
“Every Aanganwadi worker is doing her job well and how we can do even better in creating the most child-friendly atmosphere in all ICDS centres is the main objective of this meeting,” the Minister stressed.
“We must serve ICDS centres with new, innovative and qualitative service, so that Sikkim can set an example for the nation,” she added.
In order to create a child friendly environment at ICDS centres and to provide qualitative service, each and every one in the department needs to collaborate with the utmost dedication. Meanwhile, she appealed to the CDPOs, Supervisors to shoulder responsibilities positively.
She informed that to take the said task ahead, her department has decided to establish a model ICDS centre in every constituency and institute an award for the best anganwadi worker and best helper every year on Women’s Day.
The Deputy Speaker, in turn, expressed his happiness over such programmes and remarked that the North district being a difficult terrain, needs more focus as compared to other districts therefore each and every anganwadi worker and supervisor has an important role to play in making the mission a success.
Principal Secretary, SJE&E, GP Upadhaya and Mission Director BB Subba also addressed the meeting.
The meeting was attended, amongst others, by North Zilla Adhakshya Anguli Lepcha, Upadhakshya NT Lepcha, District Magistrate, DPO, N/E and S/W, Joint Director, HRDD and ICDS, CDPOs, and official members of the department.
