GANGTOK, 20 July: Sashastra Seema Bal 19th Bn organized an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS and Pre-test counselling and screening of family members of 19th Bn. under the aegis of Sandiksha on Saturday. The programme was conducted in collaboration with State AIDS Control Society, STNM Hospital, Gangtok (Sikkim) here at 19th Bn Gangtok.
A press release informs that the aim of the HIV/AIDS awareness programme was to generate awareness on the impact, management, availability of support systems and develop insight into issues of HIV/AIDS, management in the workplace and assist in the creation of a safe working environment which is free from discrimination and stigma.
The awareness programme was attended by Assistant Commandant (Medical) 19th Bn SSB, Dr. Doma Lachenpa, vice president Sandiksha, Asha Singh and secretary of Sandiksha, 19th Bn, Debrati, all members of Sandiksha 19th Bn and member of state AIDS control society, STNM Hospital, Gangtok (Sikkim).
The Sandiksha of Sashastra Seema Bal is observing the July to September quarter as ‘Daughters quarter’ and this programme was organized as part ‘Daughters quarter’ of Sandiksha, the release mentions.
