Gram Sabha at Dentam

GANGTOK, 20 July: The Gram Sabha of Dentam  GPU was held at the Dentam Gram Prasanik Kendra premises on Saturday in the massive presence of more  than seven hundred people of the area.
As per a press release, the meeting was chaired by president of the GPU, Anju Gurung and was attended by SDM Dentam, Gram Vikash Adhikari Dentam, Divisional Engineer (Power), Officials from Forest Department, line department officials of other departments, the members of Village Development Committee and the members of Dentam Bazaar Committee amongst others.
The meeting started with placing of ward-wise demands and proposals by concerned ward panchayats for its vetting by the Gram Sabha to which the Gram Sabha accorded prioritized approvals to the schemes presented. The most prominent and sustainable public demands included Rodhi Bazaar at Begha, Bungee Jumping at Singshore Bridge, Upgradation of Dentam PHC, Shopping Complex Dentam Bazaar , Community Play Ground at Dentam, Community Hall-cum-Library , Fire Station, upgrading of power transformers  and the extension of Assembly Yard of Dentam Senior Secondary School.
The  Gram Sabha decided to execute the long pending demand of extension of assembly yard of Dentam Senior Secondary School under MGNREGS immediately in the current financial year employing Job Card Holders from all the seven panchayat wards, the release mentions.
The matter related to issuance, renewal of trade licenses were also discussed at length and it was decided to fully stop business transactions by shops that are being run on sub-let licenses. The Gram Sabha took serious note of the incomplete carpeting work of PMGSY road at Begha and demanded its immediate completion within one month failing which strict actions against the contractor would be recommended.
SDM-Dentam, Dhiraj Subedi in his address informed that the SDM Office has started providing land registration and also requested the people to pay their land revenue immediately. He also presented the SWOT analysis of Dentam and requested the land owners present to take advantage of the vast agricultural land and water resources.
He opined that extensive rice cultivation here may be possible through convergence under MGNREGS in future. Gram Vikash Adhikari-Dentam, Himmat Rai detailed on the schemes under GVK being implemented in the GPU that included CMRHM, REDRH, MGNREGS. He congratulated the panchayats for having completed all twenty nine CMRHM houses. The meeting was also addressed by KB Gurung [Secretary of GPU], Arjun Gurung, HB Gurung and DS Gurung.
