GANGTOK, 22 July: The North-East MPs Forum, led by its chairman, former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Sangma, unanimously condemned the murder of Akha Salouni in New Delhi yesterday and called upon the Government of India to take all necessary measures as recommended by the Bezbaruah Committee Report. All MPs from all the eight North-Eastern states joined the condemnation, a press communiqué received from the office of Lok Sabha MP PD Rai informs.
In the Lok Sabha, Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering raised this issue during Zero Hour and all NE MPs cutting across party lines associated themselves with his speech, the release informs.
In the Rajya Sabha as well, all NE MPs unanimously demanded immediate action against the perpetrators of this brutal murder.
In a statement made in the Lok Sabha, MoS Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, informed that three alleged murderers have been apprehended and that the remaining two will also be apprehended soon.
