GANGTOK, 20 July: Finals of Inter School Petronet Soccer Tournament, 2014 concluded at St. Joseph’s School, Rhenock, East Sikkim on 19 July. The tournament was organised by Vianney Educational Trust while it was sponsored by Petronet LNG Limited.
A press release informs that 8 teams from Rhenock and surrounding areas took part in the tourney which started from 14 July. Rising Stars Rhenock defeated St Joseph’s School, Rhenock by 5-4 in the finals.
Station Head Officer of Rhenock Police Station, Sanjay Rai attended the finals as the chief guest while Station Head Officer, Rongli Police Station, Thendup Tseten Bhutia was the guest of honour.
The guest of honour, Mr Bhutia in his address thanked the organizers for providing an opportunity to budding talents and encouraged the players to keep practicing. The chief guest in his address gave special thanks to the Principal for organizing the tournament and for inviting him as the chief guest for the occasion, the release mentions.
The winners as well as the runners up were awarded trophies and certificates. The top scorer of the tournament trophy was awarded to Rizwan Chettri of Seventh Day Adventist Mission School, Rungdung while Sujal Chettri of St. Joseph’s School was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament.
