GANGTOK, 31 Mar: The Sikkim Democratic Front today rubbished reports
of SDF members joining SKM and said that it is a mere publicity stunt by the
opposition party. SDF has stated that none of its registered party workers have
joined SKM.
SDF spokesperson, Bhim Dahal, said that a handful of SKM
members are rejoining their own party in desperate attempts to mislead people
of the supposed increase in their popularity. Mr. Dahal was addressing a press briefing
of the party’s activities here at the SDF headquarters.
The SDF party is on the verge of setting a new record in the
country by returning to power for the fifth consecutive time, said Mr. Dahal.
“We will celebrate our silver jubilee in power in 2019. The opposition parties should
not underestimate the overwhelming support of the people of Sikkim for SDF and
its president Pawan Chamling,” he said.
He also dismissed allegations leveled by the Northeast In-charge
of the All India Congress Committee, Luizinho Faleiro, that the SDF government
has been siphoning off funds of 18 central flagship programmes. He termed the
works undertaken by the SDF government under both central and state programs as
“historic” and exemplary.
Sikkim has won many national and international awards time
and again under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for
transparency, efficiency and good governance, said the SDF spokesperson.
Expressing absolute confidence in the party’s victory in the
2014 elections, he said that the SDF party president has never fooled the
public by making announcement of contesting elections from one place and then
changing it to another place.
“Pawan Chamling will win the election from both
Namchi-Singithang and Rangang-Yangang constituencies with a huge margin,” reiterated
Mr. Dahal.
