GANGTOK, 02 Apr: Today the State Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] candidates from different assembly constituencies of Sikkim along with the lone Lok Sabha candidate conducted people contact programme in their respective assembly constituencies. Reports of encouraging response and assurance of public support has been received from across the 14 assembly segments where the BJP has fielded its candidates this year, informs a BJP release.
BJP candidate Ashish Gurung from Yangthang constituency today toured many areas, visiting households and disseminating the state BJP manifesto to the voters. Zoom-Salghari candidate, Ranjit Ghimeray also received a warm response from the several hundred households he visited as part of his people contact programme since the past few days. The voters placed questions to Mr. Ghimeray and he was able to give them satisfactory answers and assurances on behalf of the party, the release informs.
Amar Lohar, the BJP candidate from West Pendam was busy for the fourth day in a row visiting his voters door-to-door. Mr. Lohar also distributed the salient points to be addressed by the State unit of the BJP, which included protection of the Article 371F and its provisions, youth empowerment and employment, and making the constituency a model within Sikkim.
On Thursday, Mr Lohar will be interacting with voters to highlight the failure of the ruling SDF government in not being able to address issues pertaining to unemployment, failure of the hydropower projects to take off even after 10 years of signing of the agreement with the state government, and thus sustaining huge losses, instead of the claims to the contrary by the Chief Minister of earning revenue in the tune of Rs.1500 crore, the release informs.
BJP Upper Burtuk candidate, Ugen Tamang also conducted a tour on a door-to-door mode and received encouraging response from the voters.
