Outlook Traveller includes Chumbi Mountain Retreat among the best hill destinations in India

GANGTOK, 03 Apr: The Chumbi Mountain Retreat at Pelling, the only 5-Star Deluxe Hotel in the entire North East owned and run by a local resident, has been ranked 6th among the top-20 hill destinations to visit this summer in India. This has appeared in the Outlook Traveller magazine in the April 2014 issue.
The retreat is part of Chumbi Group of Hotels owned by Ugyen Chopel.
The magazine is one of the foremost travel magazines belonging to the Outlook Publishing (India) Pvt. Ltd stable.
The hotel was inaugurated barely five months ago, and apart from this latest endorsement, has also played host to a string of celebrities, all of whom had a memorable stay there.
In the few months that it has been in operation, the Retreat has Richard Gere, Oscar winning screen writer Malissa Mathison, the first American Everester Phillip M Ershier, actor Tabu, and many VIP’s.
The Retreat is a rare recreation of authentic Sikkimese Monastic architecture spread over a 3 acre expanse in Pelling.
The Chumbi Mountain Retreat has 50 rooms including 3 suites, Golden Bamboo the multi cuisine restaurant, Dyenkhang – Sikkimese specialty restaurant, a fine dining restaurant open for dinner by prior reservation.
The Retreat, an official press communiqué informs, is offering a 40% inaugural discount on its tariff 20% on Food & Beverage, 15% on its gift shop and 10% at their Spa. For all Government officials and local guests, a very “special package has been offered”.
