GANGTOK, 03 Apr: 3 Sikkim NCC Battalion cadets will be
carrying out a traffic management exercise on 04-05 April at Tadong, Indira Bye
Pass, Deorali, Lal Bazaar, MG Marg, Hospital Dara and Zero Point.
A press release informs that the cadets regularly
participate in activities like river rafting, mountaineering, trekking and
traffic management to learn about traffic control as well as to develop a sense
of duty and dedication towards the society. The young NCC boys and girls
perform traffic duties on a regular basis to assist the Traffic Police and to
play the role of a good citizen.
The Unit under Col D Mohapatra has also conducted programmes
on social issues like drug abuse awareness, AIDS awareness, tree plantations,
waste management, etc, the release informs. Institutions that regularly
participate in NCC activities are Tadong Government College, Enchey senior
secondary school, Army school, PNG school and TNA.
The release also mentions that the Unit celebrated NCC Day
on 22-23 November 2013 and Unit Raising Day on 10 September last year.
