NAMCHI, 03 Apr [IPR]: The randomization of EVMs was carried
out today in the presence of the General Observer (Parliamentary Constituency)
Ashok Kumar and Assembly Constituency General Observer Dr R Selvaraj in the chamber
of the Returning Officer South, Prabhakar Verma. The randomization process was
witnessed by candidates, election agents, and representatives of the political
parties.
The RO informed them about the procedure of randomization
thoroughly and added that in this randomization process, EVMs will be allocated
assembly constituency wise including those reserved for Assembly, Parliamentary
and Sangha. After randomization, the certified list of EVMs with control unit
and ballot unit which are to be used in the polls was given to all political
parties and candidates, informed Mr Verma.
He further informed that the first randomization of polling
personnel has been made in the presence of the observers and on 05 April the second
randomization/commissioning of the EVMs will take place in which polling
station wise EVM will be allocated. On the same day the commissioning for
assembly constituencies and Sangha will be done and on 06 April similar
procedure for parliamentary constituencies will be done. Total number of 190
EVMs was allocated to 8 assembly constituencies and Sangha and 173 EVMs
allocated to parliamentary constituency lying within South district.
On 02 April the inspection and reconciliation of day-to-day
accounts of all the candidates in South District was carried out in the presence
of the expenditure observer at the RO office South. There were certain
discrepancies found in some of the accounts for which notices are being issued
to the candidates to furnish their replies. The next round of expenditure
inspection is scheduled to be held on 07 April.
Furthermore he informed that the EVMs from the warehouse
(South DAC) has been shifted to strong room situated at Namchi Government Sr
Secondary School with 24X7 security with sufficient security personnel and CCTV
facilities and lighting arrangements have also been made in the strong room
area.
