GANGTOK, 30 Mar: Arun Gurung of Dalapchand, East Sikkim has
once again lifted the title of Mr Sikkim. He was declared the Champion of the
Champions of the 14th Mr Sikkim Body Building Championship 2014 held at Mannan
Kendra on Saturday. The 39-year-old had clinched the title for the first time
in 2012.
Thirty-eight body builders representing 14 gyms from across
the State participated in the championship organized by the Sikkim State
Bodybuilding Association.
In the 55 kg category, Ajay Mangar won the gold medal, while
Tika Ram Pradhan was the winner in the 60 kg category. Arun Gurung won the gold
medal in 65 kg and Sonam Dadul Bhutia in the in 70 kg category. In the final
showdown for the Champion of the Champions title, Arun Gurung outmuscled other
contestants to win the Mr Sikkim title for the second time.
Likewise, Norbu Tshering Bhutia was adjudged the Best Poser while
the Most Improved Bodybuilder of the Championship trophy was given to Pema
Dorjee Sherpa.
The competition was judged by a panel of 7 judges headed by
the National Judge, IB Gurung. The event also saw guest poser, Manoj Kumar
Majumdar from Siliguri flexing his muscles.
The championship had the Sikkim Olympic Association
president, CK Basnet as the chief guest.
