Two teenaged cousins commit suicide together, 3 more UD cases reported

GANGTOK, 30 Nov: Five Unnatural Deaths [UD] were reported from across the State on 29 November, including that of two teenaged girls who committed suicide together by hanging from the same tree.

According to telephonic information received at the Soreong Police Station from the Panchayat representative of Mendugoan GPU, on 28 November at around 3 p.m. two girls [aged 16 and 13 years] had gone into the forest to collect fodder. When they did not return home even the following day, their brother went out in search of them. He found both of them hanging from a tree from different branches in the nearby jungle.
Both the girls were residents of Mendugoan, Chakung in West Sikkim.
In another incident under Gyalshing Police Station, a 45 year-old lady died in a fatal fall. Surja Maya Rai of Lower Omlok Busty in West Sikkim took a fatal fall at Passangthang while collecting fodder.
In another incident, one Om Bahadur Rai [27], son of Bir Bahadur Rai, a resident of Setipool was found dead in the Rani Khola river. He had been missing since the night of 23 November and used to work as a quarry labour.
Meanwhile, a 55 year old man, a resident of 5th Mile, Jordhara, Tadong [permanent resident of Chapra, Bihar] was pronounced brought dead by the MO at the CRH in Tadong on 29 November. On 28 November at around 5 p.m. the deceased had complained of chest pain following which he lost consciouness. He was taken to CRH, Tadong where he was declared brought dead.
