GANGTOK, 30 Nov: A thanksgiving programme by the North East Ke Superstars - Remanti Rai and Robin Mukhia - organised by the Remanti-Robin Fan Club for all the voters and supporters was held at the BL House at Tibet Road today. The programme was chaired by CL Ghimirey, a local movie producer.
CD Rai [Advisor, Press Club of Sikkim], Roshan Rai [MD, Nayuma Television] and T Lachungpa [President, Citizen’s Forum] were also felicitated with Letters of Appreciation by the Remanti-Robin Fan Club for their help and support to the duo.
Speaking from the chair, Mr. Ghimirey said that this was a thanks giving programme held for the voters and supporters who voted through SMS for Remanti and Robin to help them win the show. He added that since both of them have won the contest and returned, now it was the duty of the people who are in these related fields to help them plan their future, otherwise they could get stagnated.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Mr. Lachungpa informed that he would be transforming BL House into the ‘most happening’ place very soon for the youngsters who have achieved something in their life. Congratulating the two for winning the NE Ke Superstar show, he further added that he will always be there to help and support such talents in the state in the future as well.
Remanti Rai, one of the winners of the NE Ke Superstar show in her address stated that it would not have been possible for them to win without the support of the people. “70 per cent was talent and 30 per cent was through SMS voting, talent wise we gave our best but the 30 per cent of voting by the people won us the contest”, she added. “We are very happy to have made the State proud”, she further said. In the end she thanked all the people who had directly or indirectly voted for them.
The programme was also addressed by Kiran Rasaily, CD Rai, Roshan Rai and DK Lepcha [chief coordinator, Remanti-Robin Fan Club].
USFC fights back from a goal down to lift ONGC Cup
GANGTOK, 30 Nov: Bhaichung’s United Sikkim Football Club is closing the year on a high and made a good start for its I-League campaign by beating an I-League team, ONGC, to lift the ONGC Cup. In the final match of the tournament played today played at Agartala in Tripura, USFC came back from a goal down to outplay ONGC 3-1.
It must have been a tense 40 minutes for USFC when it closed the first half of the final match a goal down. Relief came early in the second half, when USFC midfielder, Thoi Singh, scored the equalizer and soon his teammate, striker Daniel Bedami won the lead. Finally, a third goal for USFC, by Hira Lall Chettri, sealed victory for the Sikkim team.
Bedami also received the Man of the Final Match trophy today.
USFC Public Relations Officer [Marketing & Media Management], Pema L Shangderpa, while speaking to NOW! over the phone from Agartala, shared that after unsuccessful campaigns in Pokhara [Nepal] and Darjeeling, the morale of the team was a bit low. Now, however, the Sikkim club was riding a huge high, surged by their impressive win at this prestigious tournament.
He added that under coach Jose Antonio in this tournament, all players performed well and gave a good fight to opponents and finally lifted the champions trophy by beating an I-league team.
“This win will help the team in its upcoming tournaments and is also a good start for our I-League campaign,” he said.
The club has also expressed its gratitude to all its supporters around the globe for supporting the team through social networks and other medium. The team is returning to Gangtok on Thursday.
