GANGTOK, 29 Nov: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front has condemned claims circulated through press releases issued by the former Daramdin panchayat president, Jacob Khaling, contending the resignation by 67 families of Daramdin constituency from the SDF party.
A press release issued by the president, SDF Daramdin Constituency Committee, Pavitra Bahadur Rai, counters that the people claiming to have resigned either do not belong to the Daramdin constituency or are not SDF party supporters to begin with.
Alleging that such news is an attempt to misguide the people, the release adds that resignation was never reported to any of the GPUs of the constituency.
The release further contends that such statements show the “sheer desperation” of the opposition parties where a similar conspiracy attempted recently in the case of Gnathang-Machong was foiled.
Similarly, in another case, where 40 SDF party supporters were informed to have resigned from the party was also proved false as they were never part of the party, the release adds.
The SDF party has contended that the incident of resignation is ‘bogus’ and the outcome of a power struggle amongst the different opposition parties.
