GANGTOK, 28 Nov: The three-day Rigzing Sokdup prayers organized by the Ritsung Chorten Committee at Kambal in East Sikkim concluded today, informs a press release.
The prayers were recited by around 50 monks from Samdong Mintogang monastery and Doksing gumpa under the Omje and Dorje Lopon. The final day of the prayers was also attended by area MLA, Chief Whip Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia, former MLA Norjang Lepcha, Zilla member Saraswati Regmi, Ward Panchayat DN Pokhrel and the general public.
Speaking on the occasion, the area MLA said that such prayers always create a peaceful environment and urged everyone to remain god-fearing. The MLA also sanctioned the construction of a crematorium at Kambal and granted the Indira Awas Yojna scheme for the Ritsung Chorten, the release informs.
While highlighting the CMRHM scheme, the MLA said that the beneficiaries should be genuine and needy. The prayers concluded with the vote of thanks being proposed by committee member, Dorjee Chopel Lepcha.
