GANGTOK, 27 Nov: The Sikkim Press Association [SPA] formed its new Executive Committee at a hotel in Deorali on 26 November, informs a press release. All candidates stood for elections uncontested.
The newly elected Executive Committee of SPA has Xavier Subba as President, Arjun Piyush and Ranjit Tamu as Vice-Presidents, Subash Rai as General Secretary, Arjun Rai as Joint Secretary, CB Chettri as Assistant Secretary, Deep Pradhan as Treasurer and Sagar Chhetri and Nandu Dutraj as Publicity Secretaries, the release informs. The tenure of the new Executive Committee will be 2 years.
The elected executive committee has also appointed Kamal Mukhia as the Chief Advisor and BP Karnel, Bhim Rawat and Joseph Lepcha as Advisors. Likewise, Hemant Giri, Bijoy Gurung, Manoj Joshi and Hem Subba were also appointed as the Executive Members.
The election process had senior journalist, Kamal Mukhia, as the Election Commissioner, while President, Bhim Rawat, and General Secretary, Joseph Lepcha, of Press Club of Sikkim were present as the Observers of the election, the release further informs.
