USFC holds Royal Wahingdoh to goalless draw

GANGTOK, 29 April: The United Sikkim Football Club’s tryst with draws continues in the final round of the Second Division I-League. Playing its second, very closely played match today, USFC held Shillong-based Royal Wahingdoh to a goalless draw at the Polo Ground, Shillong.
The first match of the USFC against Sporting Clube-de-Goa on 26 April had also ended level at 1-1.
The USFC now has 2 points against its name from two drawn matches and is placed in the 5th place in this round of 8.

Speaking over the phone from Shillong, the USFC senior manager, Arjun Rai, mentioned that although the team played well in the face of a huge home support for the Shillong club, its strikers could not score any goals. He stressed that the stadium was packed with Royal Wahingdoh supporters.
He added that some of the USFC players unfortunately missed clear attempts and wasted other opportunities while some shots were foiled by the goalpost.
Bhaichung Bhutia did not play today and Sikkim featured in the form of Nim Tshering and Tsephel Bhutia.
The Senior Manager informed that Bhaichung did not play today as he had played almost the entire game in the last match and is still recovering from an injury. He will be playing the next match though against another Shillong-based team, Lazong Club on Sunday.
All remaining matches in the final around are now very crucial for the club to win and to score in the game, Mr Rai adds.
