IPR Minister accepts SPA invitation to become chief patron of organisation

GANGTOK, 29 April: CB Karki, Minister for Department of Information and Public Relations, has accepted the proposal of the Sikkim Press Association [SPA] to sit as its Chief Patron.
It may be recalled that in a meeting held earlier this month, SPA had passed a resolution that the IPR Minister be invited as ex-officio Chief Patron of the Association.
An SPA delegation led by its president, Xavier Subba, met the Minister with the proposal this morning at his office in Tashiling Secretariat.

In a short meeting, the members informed that the IPR Department has not been releasing classified advertisements to all the newspapers equally and many weekly newspapers have remained debarred from government advertisements for a long time. The members urged the Minister to direct his department to release classified advertisements on roaster basis.
On this, Mr. Karki assured that he will convene a meeting with the officials immediately and direct them to sort out this problem immediately.
Regarding the publication of a souvenir of the SPA, the Minister assured to extend all possible help to the Association.
Others, who represented the delegation were Subash Rai [General Secretary], Ranjit Tamu [Vice-president], Arjun Piyush and CB Chettri [Joint Secretaries], Deep Pradhan [Treasurer], Sagar Chettri [Publicity Secretary] and Joseph Lepcha [Executive member].
