NAMCHI, 22 April: Assistant Professor Sandhya Rai of Loyola College of Education, Namchi, has been awarded the “Rev. Fr. Dr. Mathias Award 2010-2011 for the Most Innovative College Teacher/ Educator in India”, instituted by AIACHE (All India Association for Christian Higher Education, New Delhi) on 20 April.
This prestigious national award is a mark of AIACHE’s recognition of her devotion to academic excellence, participation in the introduction of educational innovations, concern for the integrated development of students and commitment to high standards of professional ethics, informs a press release.
The college felicitated Ms Rai by presenting this award comprising of a citation and a cash component on its 17th Annual Day on 20 April which had Namchi-Singithang MLA, Binod Rai, as chief guest.
Ms Rai is the daughter of Anil Kumar Rai and Sirmoti Rai of Pussimbing Tea Garden, Darjeeling. She passed out from St. Joseph’s College, North Point, Darjeeling with B.Sc Hons. (Zoology) and completed her M.Sc (Zoology) from Darjeeling Government College securing first division from the University of North Bengal. She completed her B.Ed from SRKB.Ed College, Darjeeling and M.Ed from Madurai Kamraj University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Education, from Visva-Bharati, Shantiniketan, under the guidance of Prof. Diwakar Kundu.
The release informs that Ms. Rai joined Loyola College of Education in November 1997 as an Assistant Professor and has been involved in innovative and impactful campus ministry programmes since the very beginning.
