SDF condemns Sikkim BJP’s latest rant

GANGTOK, 26 April: The Sikkim Democratic Front has responded strongly to allegations leveled against the Chief Minister and other SDF leaders by the Sikkim-unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The SDF, through a press release issued today, has condemned the statements issued by the Sikkim BJP president, Padam Bahadur Chettri, yesterday and countered it as a “stunt” to make headlines by seeking to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister.
An SDF press release highlights that to date, the BJP has not made any contribution for the welfare of Sikkim and the Sikkimese people, and has consistently sought to denigrate the mandate of the people by launching personal attacks on the Chief Minister.
This, the release adds, the BJP has attempted through its failed attempt to drag the CM to court on trumped up charges of possessing dual citizenship.
The BJP’s latest move, the SDF contends, reflects the “desperation” coursing through the party in Sikkim where it finds itself with neither public support nor even “sense or any political or social contributions”.
