PWD Minister chairs first departmental coordination meeting

GANGTOK, 30 May [IPR]: The first Departmental Co-ordination Meeting of Sikkim Public Works (Roads and Bridges) Department was held on 27 May at Chintan Bhawan here. The meeting was chaired by Minister, Sikkim Public Works (Roads and Bridges) Department, Garjaman Gurung and attended by Principal Chief Engineer cum Secretary, TB Rajalim and all the officers of the Department.
The meeting was convened to discuss the core issues relating to the road connectivity of the State and to familiarize the Minister about the various schemes being undertaken by the Department.
The meeting started off with the welcome speech of the PCE cum Secretary. He welcomed and congratulated the Minister for the fifth term of the SDF Government. While welcoming the Minister and officials, he urged all present to work with renewed vigour, besides shouldering the responsibilities with accountability and pro-activeness.
Mr Rajalim conveyed to the house the broad directions imparted to the Secretaries and HoDs by the Chief Minister on 21 May, 2014. Primarily it was conveyed that all were informed to be prompt in discharging their duties.
Additional Secretary (Administration), informed about the activities of the Administrative Section and Superintending Engineers, North/East, South, West, Project and Planning briefed about the projects being implemented under their jurisdiction. Project-wise discussion was held and possible lines of action were envisaged.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the problems and issues and assured to give all possible support. He appealed to work hand in hand in the interest of the public in general. He thanked one and all for supporting the SDF party for the fifth term. He reiterated to work with dedication in a joyful environment with deep sense of responsibility and feelings of ownership.
The meeting ended with the vote of thanks by B Prasad, Additional Chief Engineer (N/E).
