GANGTOK, 28 May: An exhibition football match was organised at Government Secondary School, Middle Gyalshing, today. The match saw the participation of 6 of the state and country’s best players. The players who participated in the match included talents like Nirmal Chettri, Sanju Pradhan, Bikash Jairu, Robin Gurung, Nim Tshering Lepcha and Sanjay Chettri.
A press release informs that this star studded bunch played a match with the students of the school, in a bid to encourage local talents and inspire rural youth who lack the required exposure and facilities. The players also very generously made a cash donation to the school for development purposes along with an autographed Sikkim United jersey.
Despite the rain, a colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students along with the school song. The school on its part presented a letter of appreciation to all the 6 players. It must also be mentioned here that two of the players, namely Bikash Jairu and Sanjay Chettri are former students of the school, the release informs.
After the match, the players provided autographs to all the students. The school authorities have thanked all the players for their valuable time and the inspiration they provided to the students. The school wishes all the players continues success in their future endeavors, it is added.
