GANGTOK, 30 May: The 27th Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) meeting was held at Mayfair Resorts, Gangtok on Friday under the aegis of NHPC Limited.
A press release informs that the TCC meeting was inaugurated by NT Bhutia [Chairperson, TCC and Principal Chief Engineer Energy & Power Department, Govt. of Sikkim]. A large number of delegates from various constituents of ERPC namely, NHPC Ltd, NTPC, PGCIL, DVC, PTC and state as well as private power utilities of Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal are participating in the meeting.
The Eastern Regional Power Committee (ERPC) meeting will be held on 31 May and it will be chaired by PB Subba [Principal Chief Engineer cum Secretary, Energy & Power Department, Govt. of Sikkim]. Bhutan is also participating in this meeting as a special invitee, the release mentions.
During the meeting, various technical issues were identified and discussed for smooth operation of eastern region power grid by maintaining strict grid discipline and compliance of statutory orders and regulations by all the constituents. Measures to be taken by all the constituents to avoid recurrence of grid failure of eastern region were also discussed and decisions were taken accordingly.
Incidentally, Teesta V Power Station (510 MW), located in Sikkim, is playing a significant role in maintaining stability of eastern grid and it has also been identified as one of the power stations for Black Start in case of eastern grid failure, the release adds.
