SU students to participate in SAARC program


GANGTOK, 06 Dec: Four students from Sikkim University have been selected to participate in ‘The Peacebuilding Training and Education Program for SAARC Emerging Leaders’, which is one of the programs under the Conflict Transformation across Cultures –CONTACT.

CONTACT offers training programs for emerging leaders from around the world who are engaged in responding to conflict, promoting social change, and building sustainable peace. Founded in 1997, the CONTACT Summer Peacebuilding Program is offered annually in June in Vermont, USA, on the SIT campus.
This year CONTACT is offering the course for South Asians in Kathmandu. Its principle objective is to increase the capacity of South Asians in social, economic, and political peace building, thereby establishing collaborative cross-border relationships that will contribute to sustainable peace and increased development.
Some of the outstanding professors from CONTACT will join the CONTACT South Asia faculty, supplemented by experts from the region.
The students from Sikkim University were scheduled to leave for Kathmandu today where they will take part in the training programme scheduled to be held between 07 to 18 Dec. [from PRIVAT GIRI, Sikkim University]
