NAMCHI, 05 Dec: Marking the World AIDS Day, posters and charts displaying messages on HIV/ AIDS and blood donation were put up by the Namchi Government College from 28 Nov to 01 Dec.In a programme held on the occasion, the Principal, Dr. MP Thapa, briefed students on the alarming threat of HIV AIDS to contemporary society and urged students to come together to combat this global disease.
He added that this issue needs to be immediately addressed and that every possible solution must be adopted in order to control the disease from spreading further. Dr. Thapa further cited the importance and the need to organize youth oriented programmes and awareness camps in various sectors of our society from time to time.
The Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club, Dr.Tsewang Gyatso Bhutia in his address highlighted on the poster display activity on HIV/AIDS and Voluntary Blood Donation and also appreciated the voluntary blood donors of the college. He further appealed to the gathering to come forward and join hands in making Sikkim an AIDS free state.
The key message of the programme was to take the initiative to be generous and law abiding, well disciplined, conscious and donate blood to save a life. A signature campaign was also organized on the occasion.
Also present on the day were the Vice Principal, Dr. PR Poudal, other faculty members and students of the college.
