SDF reorganises ward and block committees under Namchi-Singithang


NAMCHI, 02 Dec: The reformation of Ward Level and Block Level Committees of ruling Sikkim Democratic Front Party under Namchi-Singithang constituency in South Sikkim is now complete with the final reformation meeting held at Mickhola Gram Prasashan Kendra on 30 Nov.

According to a press release issued by the Constituency Level Committee, Publicity Secretary, Dil Kr. Chettri, the reformation of Block Level committee (BLC) and Ward Level Committee (WLC) under the constituency had begun on 23 Nov with the first meeting of the constituency Level Committee at Maniram- Singithang Gram Prasashan Kendra.
The old WLC and BLC were dissolved during this reformation process to form the new committee. For Namchi Municipal Council areas a meeting was held on 26 Nov while for Rong-Bul GPU it was organized on 28 Nov at the GPU. Similar meetings were held for Maniram- Singithang GPU on 29 Nov at Lower Boomtar and Mickhola GPU on 30 Nov.
The release mentions that during these reformation meetings held at various GPUS under Namchi-Singithang Constituency, 50% of the seats were reserved for women party workers as per the advice of party president, Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling.
The cabinet has passed a resolution recently providing 50% reservation to the women community in Panchayat election and the ruling SDF party has implemented it within the party before its official implementation, this has cleared the views and dedication of the CM towards the promises he had made to the people of Sikkim, the release states.
During these meetings, SDF party leaders of the South District informed the people and new committee members on their respective roles, responsibilities and the duties towards the party, society and state as a whole. The people were also informed about the various developmental works undertaken by the SDF government in their respective areas and were urged ‘not to get misled with the stories of the so called opposition parties’.
