ATMA conducts review meeting of Farm Schools


GANGTOK, 07 Dec: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) conducted a review meeting of Farm School at SAMETI Hall, Tadong today. A press release informs, the meeting was attended by around 40 farmers along with field functionaries of different farm schools and BTMs under ATMA East District, FS & ADD. The resource persons at the meeting were Dy. Director ATMA, East District, Asha Lama, ADO, Sushma Pradhan, Dy Director, Karma Doma Bhutia.

In the meeting, different activities under farm schools as per the crop calendar (kharif and rabi crops) and constraints faced were reviewed and discussion for future activities to be undertaken were also finalized, the release mentions.
The resource persons stressed on different aspects like soil health card, Azolla cultivation, cultivation of pulses and soyabean and importance of Phosphate mobilizing organism in organic farming.
Similarly, in the month of November the farm school teachers of different farm schools under ATMA (East district) were taken for inter-state exposure visits to West Bengal to learn about the latest technology in dairy, agriculture, horticulture, pesciculture, etc.
The farmers’ friends under ICS villages also got an opportunity from ATMA ( East) to go for an exposure visit of Biofach (organic fair2011) at Bangalore, the release adds.
