GANGTOK, 07 Dec: This will probably be for the first time that all State government employees will have to attend offices on a Sunday, two Sundays in fact. As per a Circular issued by the Home Department Tuesday, the State government has decided to keep its offices open on 11 and 18 December, both Sundays.
Employees will be compensated with holidays on 24 and 31 December, both of which days fall on Saturdays. This decision has been taken by the state government so that the government employees are not inconvenienced with awkward regular office days in between the long Losoong and Christmas vacations. The year will hence close with government offices closed from 24 Dec 2011 to 01 Jan 2012.
