Written by Sikkimese intellectuals, the book explores the socio-economic development of Sikkim through the years with the Raj Bhavan at its pivot, the release informs. Also part of this book is the reminiscences of some former Governors, including the first Governor of Sikkim, BB Lal.
A comprehensive book on Raj Bhavan, Sikkim and its history was in the offing for a long time. Conceived almost about ten years back, the book started taking shape only after the joining of Mr Singh - himself a scholar of repute - as Governor of Sikkim, the release mentions.
A team of editors headed by former Chief Secretary of Sikkim, Sonam Wangdi, was handpicked by te Governor while the book has been printed by the IPR Department, the release informs.
Sikkim’s Raj Bhavan spans the periods under the Chogyals, as a protectorate of the British and finally as the 22nd State of the Indian Union. According to the release, this book is a first of its kind for Sikkim in that it provides an authentic account of the history of Sikkim since 1642, the year when the first Chogyal of Sikkim was enthroned.
Sikkim’s Raj Bhavan would hold interest to journalists, nature lovers, tourists, besides to students and researchers of history, sociology and politics, the release further adds.

Congratulations to the H.E for trying to bring about some academic material on Sikkim, but it will be interesting to see the contributors list, will it simply have arm chair researchers or has the inputs of the senior citizens been taken too- kc pradhan will surely be there but I wonder if H.E took the views of Karma topden, jt densapa, mm rasaily ,rc poudyal and some of the student leaders of '75.
