Himalayan Strokes-I

EXHIBITION CUM SALE OF LOCAL ART UNDERWAY AT STAR HALL
GANGTOK, 07 July: Himalayan Strokes-I, an exhibition-cum-sale of paintings here at Star Hall, has been receiving encouraging response from visitors. The week-long exhibition, which is being organized by Gangtok-based Oviya Art Circle, started on Sunday.
Around 150 paintings of 29 artists from different parts of the state are on display in the exhibition. The organizers have also arranged a workshop at the venue, where you can catch the artists at work.
OAC treasurer, Devika Gurung mentioned that the main objective of the event was to bring all local artists together and to motivate young upcoming artists by exhibiting their works. She informs that 15 new artists have displayed their works which have been appreciated by senior artists and visitors. OAC has plans to make this an annual event to encourage local artists, she added.
Ms Gurung stated that the exhibition has been attracting good number of visitors since the first day and 3 paintings were sold on the first day. The cost of paintings on display range from Rs 500 to Rs 30,000.
