Dainik Jagran team calls on Governor

GANGTOK, 07 July: A six-member team from Dainik Jagran led by Assistant General Manager, Dainik Jagran (West Bengal and Sikkim), Subhashish Jai Halder called on the Governor of Sikkim, Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan today. The Governor extended his warm greetings to the team members.
A press release from Raj Bhavan informs that the team members presented a book (biography) on Babu Jagjivan Ram published by the Jagran Group to the Governor. They also gave a short presentation on the inception and growth of the Jagran Group and apprised the Governor about the circulation of the newspaper in the Sikkim and West Bengal region.
It may be mentioned that the Dainik Jagran is world’s most read news daily with its 36 editions from 16 different states in India.
In his interactions, the Governor expressed that media plays a vital role in the growth and institutionalisation of democracy. It is right to call media the fourth pillar of democracy, the Governor added.
Later, while responding to some questions from the team members, the Governor acknowledged the natural beauty and pristine environment of the State. He mentioned that the freedom, safety and security of women in Sikkim has given the State a distinct identity among other states in India, the release mentions.
During a short briefing, the Governor also mentioned about the unlimited tourism potential of the State and called the youth to be more enterprising and hardworking to capitalise on the huge opportunity in rural tourism and home stays.
He further added that competency in the English language among youth in Sikkim is one of the best in the country and should be leveraged to its fullest in order to solve many problems existing among the young population in the State.
The Governor extended his best wishes for the growth and expansion of the Jagran group in the days to come.
