GANGTOK, 06 July: A meeting of Sikkim Amateur Boxing Associationn [SABA] was held on Saturday to consider the resignations submitted by its members who are government employees in view of the recent Circular of the State government withdrawing permission from government employees joining any association.
A SABA press release informs that Prawin Gurung, current president of the association resigned from the association’s primary membership as well as from the post of president. Similarly, all government employees in the association also resigned from primary membership and their respective executive posts.
It may also be mentioned here that the founder president of the association, SD Negi, ADGP Sikim Police, and few other members had already resigned from SABA earlier on 07 June.
As a consequence the executive committee has been dissolved and an ad-hoc committee of 5 office bearers headed by Sambhu Pradhan has been constituted to carry out the functions of the association till an election as per the rules of the association is held.
Mr Gurung shared his experiences of 17 long years of association with SABA in promoting boxing game in the state and thanked all members for their individual contributions, cooperation and outstanding team work.
