Rs. 50 lakh Nishani Devi Kali Bhawani project cleared for Pendam Gadi


GANGTOK, 14 Dec: The State government has approved the construction of Nishani Devi Kali Bhawani at Pendam Gadi in Central Pendam, East Sikkim. The Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department will be undertaking this project sanctioned for Rs. 50 lakh.

Sikkim is all set to get a Stockman Centre and a Veterinary sub centre. In fact, the Animal Husbandry Department will be establishing 5 such units for which it has been sanctioned Rs. 2 crore by the state government for land acquisition.
Furthermore, the department will also be establishing a Rainbow Trout Hatchery with Fry Rearing facilities; this will come up at Maneybong, West Sikkim. The estimated cost for this project is around Rs. 30 lakh.
The Animal Husbandry department has been sanctioned another Rs. 30 lakh to establish a Trout Hatchery at Sharchok, Lachung in North Sikkim. This particular project is being sponsored by the National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad.
The Urban Development and Housing Department which has been given the charge of maintaining roads in the urban areas of the state will be taking up road maintenance works shortly. As part of its responsibility to maintain the urban roads the department will be undertaking restoration of bridge culverts, surface improvement and other protective works wherever required. The department will also be undertaking the construction of a link road from the national highway 31A at Jhordhara, 5th Mile, Tadong to Amargram Village in East Sikkim for which the required funds have been allotted by the government.
