Govt amends Pension Rules


GANGTOK, 08 Dec: The State government has amended the Sikkim Government Servant (New Contributory Pension) Rules, 2006. As per the amendment, any government servant retired on invalidation shall be entitled to pension as per Rule 27 of the Sikkim Services (Pension) Rules, 1990.
If his service is less than ten years of continuous service, he shall be entitled to the service gratuity as per the rule 31 of Sikkim Services (Pension) Rules,1990 and if the service is more than ten years, he shall be granted gratuity as per sub-rule (1) of rule 35 of Sikkim Service (Pension) Rules,1990.
The amendment further notes that if any Government Servant dies while in service, family pension shall be paid as per rule 40 of the Sikkim Services (Pension) Rule, 1990 and the death gratuity shall be paid as per sub-rule (2) of rule 35 of the Sikkim Service (Pension) Rules, 1990.
The amendment rule is with effect from 01 April, 2006.
In addition to the above, Dearness Relief and Medical Allowance is admissible on provisional basis. The provisional payments are adjustable against the future payment to be made on the basis of the rules regulating the benefits under the New Pension System to be brought into place by the Government of India.
