Goley “anti-social element” alleges SDF

GANGTOK, 14 Dec: The ruling SDF party has condemned, what it calls, the “motorcade stunt” pulled off by supporters of party dissident, Upper Burtuk MLA, PS Tamang, at Khola Ghari, Assam Lingzey under Namcheybong constituency on the night of 13 Dec.

“If this anti-social element is to play politics then he should come forward and declare his principles and programmes,” invites a press release issued by the general secretary, TN Sharma.
The SDF party has alleged that such irresponsible acts have created a sense of fear in the public and seek to disturb the peace of the state. The party has demanded that the police keep a watch on such elements which the release alleges as trying to “gain political favour by disturbing the law and order”.
SDF party, registering itself as a democratic party, has appealed to its party workers not to get instigated and respond to such activities but deal with it by abiding to the party’s principles.

  1. Golay couldn't have chosen a more appropriate time to make his public appearance. Not only is the State gearing up for the panchayat elections, but the state elections too are not too far away. The space of two years could be utilized to garner support of the people and win over those who pledge allegiance to Chamling.
However, the possibility of an agitation in darjeeling hills could prove to be a dampener for Golay since he draws his muscle from them.
Although, Golay is no better as an option to Chamling but lack of any suitable candidate together with the extreme necessity to oust Chamling, add up to his credentials.
