BGP, Sikkim Unit to create ‘Youth Cell’


GANGTOK, 11 Dec: A meeting of West District sub-committees of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh [BGP], Sikkim Unit and the members of the BGP State Working Committee was convened today under the chairmanship of the president, BGP West District Committee, HB Pradhan, informs a press release.


Recognizing the importance of contribution from the youth for the up-liftment of the community and development of the society, the meeting resolved to create a Youth Cell. Through this cell the BGP seeks to create a sense of belonging among the youth and encourage them towards making a healthy society, the release informs.

The meeting also discussed efforts of BGP in recording the correct number of Gorkhas across India, increasing its membership, the proposed Tri Annual Conference, future strategies and others, the release adds.

It was also resolved to hold another meeting to discuss the importance of strengthening the West District committee and forming branches at Reshi, Sombareya and Soreng, the release further informs.

The meeting was also addressed by the president, BGP, Sikkim Unit, Dr. Kamal Gurung, Patron member, KN Sharma, General Secretary, BGP, Sikkim Unit, S Pandey, representative of Bermiok Branch, Ghanashyam Sharma, Secretary, Prabin Khaling, president, Dentam Branch, Surat Gurung, Treasurer, West District, Sundar Kumar Pradhan, general secretary, Dentam, HP Chettri, Dilliram Chettri, Jiwan Prakash Chettri, Madhu Sharma, Narendra Rai and KN Sharma.
