Commuters thrilled with Dikchu to Thingchim blacktopping by BRO

MANGAN, 28 JUNE:  Undaunted with the persistent rains of the past week, the Border Roads Organisation persisted with its task of completing the blacktopping work of the Dikchu-Mangan road till Thingchim Zero in North Sikkim. The BRO had assured people here of completing the task ahead of the monsoons and thereby improving the road journey to Mangan.

The people of Dikchu area, including Dzongu, have now expressed their gratitude towards BRO for improving the road surface to Mangan. Where it used to take two hours of bone-rattling drive [held up often by traffic bottlenecks] from Dikchu to Mangan, commuters can now sail through in half an hour.
“This time, we really appreciate the BRO for their commitment to this highway,” a local commented.
A BRO official deputed to the work informed that its personnel worked on the task even on Sundays to complete it.
The benefits of improved road health is already obvious- there have been no disruptions on this stretch thus far this season despite the heavy rains.
