Bhim Rawat elected Press Club president

GANGTOK, 29 June: The Press Club of Sikkim unanimously elected Bhim Rawat as its president, Joseph Lepcha as general secretary, Babbu Tamang as treasurer, Kabita Sharma as assistant treasurer, Nirmal Mangar as publicity secretary, Arjun Rai as literary secretary and Sagar Chettri as culture secretary. All of them sailed through uncontested.

The three posts in the executive body which were contested and had 98 members voting were for the posts of three vice presidents, working president and sports secretary.
Contesting for the post of working president were Bishal Cintury, Bishnu Neopany and HB Adhikari.  Mr.  Neopany won. Similarly, contesting for the post of three vice presidents were Balika Chettri, Yuvraj Dahal, Arjun Piyush and Neelam Neopany. Neelam Neopany lost to the other three in the voting process.
Contesting for the post of sports secretary were Anand Oberoi and Nandu Dutraj which the latter won.
A total of sixteen votes were sent by SMS out of which only 11 were entertained by the election committee which had Mala Rana Patro as chairperson, Suman Gazmer, VR Tiwari and Gyaltsen T Lama as observers.
