GANGTOK, 02 May: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha celebrated International Labour Day on 01 May in a function chaired by the party vice-president, Phuchung Tshering Bhutia. The celebration was attended by more than 1000 workers from different parts of the state and SKM party workers, a party press release informs.
SKM general secretary [organisation] Kala Rai read out the message of the party president PS Tamang [Golay] while the party Labour Front chief convener, Padam Sharma said that in the SKM government, workers of Sikkim would get equal rights and facilities.
In his address, Mr Bhutia also stated that after coming to power, SKM would work to provide equal rights and opportunities to labourers and farmers of the state. The celebration was also addressed by Binod Adhikari, Ramesh Subba, Indra Chettri, Chewang Gyatso Bhutia, Kul Bahadur Subedi and others, the release mentions.
It is informed that due to the election process this year the party has confined the celebration to the function at the party head-office.
