GANGTOK,
29 Apr: Anushuchit Jati Kalyan Sangh, Sikkim, a registered organization working
for the Scheduled Castes of Sikkim, has strongly condemned the statement made
by Baba Ramdev and accused him of “nsulting” the Dalit community with his
controversial “honeymoon” remark.
Baba Ramdev,
a supporter of Bharatiya Janata Party, made this remark in Lucknow on 25 April.
Although Ramdev later contended that his statements were taken out of context,
his comment has received across the board condemnation.
The AJKS has stated that such unwanted remarks have hurt the sentiments
of Dalits in the country and the Scheduled Castes residing in the State of
Sikkim as well.

Jati Kalyan Sangh, Sikkim has sought action against Ramdev under section
3(1)(X) of the Prevention of Atrocities Act which stands for making insulting
remarks pertaining to the caste or community.
