GANGTOK, 27 Apr: Sikkim Football Association (SFA) flagged
off its 22-member Senior Women’s Football team for the 20th Senior Women’s
National Football Championship 2014 to be held at Dibrugarh, Assam from 27
April to 13 May. The tournament is being organised by the All India Football
Federation.
An SFA release informs that in the preliminary round, Sikkim
has been placed in cluster “C” along with Delhi, Bihar, Tripura, Kerala &
West Bengal. The Sikkim team will be playing against West Bengal on 29 April,
Bihar on 01 May, Delhi on 03 May, Tripura on 05 May and Kerala on 07 May.
A 30-day coaching camp for the championship was conducted at
Mangalbarey, West Sikkim, before they left to participate in the championship.
The team will be led by Palden Bhutia as Manager and Dipendra Thapa as Coach.
The team has Lako Phuti Bhutia, Pavitra Limboo, Bhoj Kumari
Limboo, Nima Doma Bhutia, Phutey Bhutia, Ash Maya Limboo, Sujana Rai, Shital
Mangar, Priskila Tamang, Mongmit Lepcha, Gyurme Dolma Tamang, Sujata Mangar, Eden
Bhutia, Nim Riki Sherpa, Dechen Lepcha, Anisha Limboo, Nimita Gurung, Smita Rai,
Aita Hangma Limboo and Shanti Rai.
While releasing the final list of players to the media at Football
House, Gangtok today, general secretary, SFA, Menla Ethenpa said that SFA has
high hopes from these girls for a good performance in the tournament, the
release mentions.
Chairperson, SFA Women’s Wing, Rinzing Ongmu and secretary,
SFA Women’s Wing, Chung Chung Bhutia have also extended their good wishes to
the team.
